Today we are going to looking at a new housing development called Kingsbrook Park, which is where I live and is just out side of Canterbury City.
If you are looking for a place to live, I recommend going to your local estate agent or checking online listings. However, when buying a brand new house you will be buying it directly from the developers.
And before I continue, I'd like to recommend to anybody emigrating to the UK to look into new housing developments as you will often find the houses are much more Eco friendly than older houses. Also don't be to scared by house prices in the UK as you can find some great deals.
Anyway, here we can see the development of some new houses and as usual safety and waste management is quite noticeable. Safety around construction areas in the UK is taken very seriously and on average there are less then 80 deaths a year due to construction, which is the lowest in Europe.
Here you can see a lot of construction where soon there shall be gardens for each house.
Since the dark ages, citizens have been paying the landlord rent for letting them live in the landlords apartment. The smaller units to the left are open plan apartments and bellow are double garages which are each sold with one of the larger houses to the right.
Here you can see the double garage and above the open style apartment which belong to the larger house behind. Many people will either rent out or these apartments or use them for work, or as an extra cottage for extended family.
This was taken in one of the open style apartments, which are surprisingly spacious. This one room mansion could cost you roughly £70 a week.
Here you can see a model of what the entire estate will look like once completed, currently the estate is about 70% complete and should be finished some time in 2012.
Inside the 5 bedroom show-house. All the houses are fitted with brand new appliances.
Each of the houses in the estate has a small garden such as this one.
View of the Canterbury Cathedral taken from the top floor of one of the crescent houses.
Today is actually the opening of the new phase of houses in the estate.
These houses are styled in a Georgian Architectural style and make up the new phase of development in the estate. Most of these house include a double garage and studio apartment.
House prices in the UK are not cheap however, currently house prices are cheaper then a few years ago. A small mansion such as one of these would set you back between £530K - 750K depending on raw size and additions such as the apartment and garage. House prices closer to town tend to be more expensive than in the country.
The estate is full of river walks which are very nice if you have children or a dog.
